Could the name Blitz / Blitch come from
Hello,
I live in Georgia USA and was just recently told the BLITCH Family possibley came from Germany around the French Border. I have been researching the BLITCH Family name for 20 plus yrs now and heard something about they may have come from Germany but that was all that was ever said I researched it and did not come up with anything. and it has come up by another family member. He has rasied the question and I can not seam to find anything still yet. So I have come here to this message board to post to see if anyone in Germany might know of anything. All research I have gotten says the BLITCHs came to the Virginia USA around 1743 from England. With 2 BLITCHs showing in England back in 1625. But nothing from then until 1743 when the showed up in the USA. THey may had landed in Virginia before moving south to South Carolina, Georgia and Flordia. They may have changed there name from BLITZ to BLITCH. Now this has me puzzled as to if they really did come from Germany or not. If you could help please contact me at BlitchFamily@gmail.com. It would be very helpful to have this infromation...
Thank you for all your help.
Janet BLITCH
