Thanks so much for the information. Maybe you can give me some guidance. My ancestors George and Mary Ray received land in SC in 1768 and 1772. I found a record where they sold their land in 1772. I can not find a SC land record after that. Their land was in Berkeley co SC and that part of Berkeley co SC later became Newberry co SC. As I am sure you know another Berkeley co SC was formed years later in another part of SC. What i am trying to find is where George and Mary Ray were before they were in SC in 1768. I was hoping the land grat records where they received land in 1768 might have said something like George and MAry Ray from Virginia or whereever were granted land in Berkeley co SC in 1768 but they don't. They might have been forom England or Ireland or Scotland. I know a lot of imigrants came over and landed in Charleston SC about that time. Would you know where I could find the names of the ships that brought imigrants to American and landed at Charleston SC about that time and if therre is a list of the passengers? I understand a lot of people left SC in the early 1770's because there was so much trouble with fighting between the people that backed Great britain and those that were against England. Maybe George and Mary Ray left SC. I can not find any land records after 1772 in SC. Thanks,Ross
