Trying to follow up with this thread.
Understanding Jonathan Neal is important to me in the research of my Newberry SC Neal clan I am posting the following deed records which seem to reference the orginal Grants and Surveys.
Several months ago I took a trip to the FHL in Salt Lake. Didn't have a lot of time but did copy these particular records from the film. I did not scan them. The 3rd record was not a good copy, and I realized that I could not make out the words until after I returned home. I will order the film on loan to review. But in the meantime.... these records seem to prove a connection between Jonthan Neal and my Charles Neal the younger. It should be noted that Wiley Neal mentioned in these records was son of Charles the younger, and this Wiley married Nancy Goggans (aka Goggins).
NOTE: 17 Nov 1818, Newberry CO, SC, DB-P, p602, Charles NEALL of Newberry District to Wiley NEALL of sd District, $300.00, all that plantation or tract of land containing 101 acres more or less in Newberry Dist on the waters of Sandy Run as a platt there annexed... Wit: John SMITH, Thomas GOGGANS ACK: 19 April 1830
NOTE: 16 Jan 1819, Newberry CO, SC, DB-k O, p7, Thos GOGGANS of District of Newberry SC to Wiley NEAL of sd District, $275.00, 68 3/4 acres more or less land in sd District and part of a tract originally Granted to Jonathan NEAL for 10 0acres on branches of Bush River... original line... below the lower spring ... original line (of) Wiley Neals land... Wit: Charles GRIFFEN, Benj BUTTER Sally GOGGINS, wife of Thomas Goggans relinquuished dower right 15 July 1819 Recorded 13 Feb 1819
NOTE: 27 Nov 1826, Newberry CO, SC, DB-P, p545, Wiley NEALL and Nancy NEALL his wife of the CO of Giles State of TN to George R GIBSON and ?Russel? A GIBSON of the Dist of Newberry State of SC, $814, 101ac land in the Dist of Newberry on Sandy Run being the same land conveyed by Charles Neall to Wiley Neall by deed bearing date 17 Nov 1818 on a branch of ?Bush? River it being part of a tract of land originally granted to Jonathan Neale for ______ very faint w/water damage_______ [Believe that there is a 2nd parcel being sold and described and is the parcel sold by Thos Goggans to Wiley Neal in 1819] .... Need to order film and magnify this record. Copy is too faint.
