Samuel James was born in 1769 in SC. He was the son of John James and Sarah Moore of Sumter Co. SC. He married Mary Darrington, daughter of Robert Darrington (Dearington) about 1794. They lived in both Sumter Co.and Kershaw Co. SC. They had the following children:
1) Mary Darrington, b. 1795, SC, d. 1854, Dallas Co. AL. She married Francis Boykin (1785-1839) son of Burwell Boykin and his first wife Elizabeth Whitaker. (my line)
2) Robert Darrington James (1797-1860) m. Maria L. Cowles.
3) Sarah Ann (1799-1805)
4) Theodocia James (1802-1863) m. John Starke Hunter.
5) Lorenzo James (1805- ) m. Eliza Ann Scott, daughter of John Scott and Eliza Ann Coleman.
6) Thomas James (1807-1834) m. Clementina Scott, sister of Eliza Ann Scott.
7) Eliza James (1809-1813)
8) Rebecca James (1811- ) m. Isaac Irwin.
9) Charlotte James (1814-1871) m. Charles A. Marston
10) Emily James (1816-1868) m. Fred S. Blount
11) Samuel James (1821-1839) Died single.
