I am researching the family of John James "J.J." Robinson / Robertson (born ca1816 probably in Sumter Co., SC) and his wife, Elizabeth Baker (born ca1816 probably in Sumter Co., SC). J.J. and Elizabeth were married in about 1838, and their first son, Samuel McBride Robinson, was born in 1839. Samuel McBride Robinson was apparently named after Samuel McBride, an early resident of Sumter County, but I do not know what the connection was between these families. By 1840, J.J. and Elizabeth (Baker) Robinson had moved to neighboring Kershaw Co., SC. In 1855, this family moved to FL--eventually settling in Columbia Co., FL. John James "J.J." Robinson was a son of Wiley Robinson / Robertson (born ca1795 in SC), an early resident of Sumter County. Wiley also moved to Columbia Co., FL, where he apparently died sometime after the 1860 census. Jonathan Robinson, another son of Wiley Robinson / Robertson, also moved from SC to Columbia Co., FL. In 1870, Robert and Sarah (Baker) Trimnall, were also living in Columbia Co., FL--next to the Robinson family. Sarah Baker was the daughter of John Prescott Baker and Ellen (Robinson / Robertson) Baker, of Sumter Co., SC. Ellen (or Ellenor) is believed to have also been a daughter of Wiley Robinson / Robertson, and one of her sons was named Wiley Baker. By 1880, Robert and Sarah (Baker) Trimnall had left FL and moved back to Sumter Co., SC. I am not sure whether Elizabeth Baker (the wife of John James "J.J." Robinson / Robertson) was a sister of John Prescott Baker, but it seems likely that they were closely related.
Any information on these families or research advice would be greatly appreciated.
