BATES family of early York Co

I am new to this list and am presently trying to research information on John BATES Sr and John BATES Jr as shown on the 1820 York Co census. My BATES relative in Spalding Co, Ga is may have come from York Co and since he arrived in Fayette Co, GA (before formation of Spalding Co) in 1827 (he is recorded as owning land at that time) we are attempting to location that may connect us to John Jr. Of considerable interest would be whether he was married twice in York Co, Name(s) of spouse(s), names and birth dates of Children. Are there any researchers that may have encountered these individuals in their searches?
Tks and che-ers
