Onias Jackson

My ancestor, Onias Jackson, was born about 1801 or 1802 in South Carolina, reportedly in York County. His father was Samuel Jackson, born about 1779 in SC, died 1863 in Peoria County, Illinois. I don't know who Samuel Jackson's first wife was, but she may have been Sally Ewing, a daughter of Samuel Ewing of York County. Besides Onias, the other children believed to have been born in SC to this couple were Sarah, James A.. and Mary W.

Sally Ewing Jackson died in 1816, in Missouri Territory. I have no way of knowing if this person is the mother of my Onias Jackson, first wife of Samuel Jackson.

Samuel Jackson had several other children, probably born to different wives: John M., Narcissa, Matilda were all born in Ohio. Samuel, Darexie, and Hester were all probably born in Indiana.

My basic question is, was my ancestor Samuel Jackson a son of David Jackson and Mary Morrison? I know they had a son named Samuel but I haven't been able to make a connection. If anyone can clear this up, please be in touch. Do I need to be searching for Samuel and Onias in another county besides York County?

Thanks for any help.

Nancy
