I am looking for information about Myrtle Scanlan Schaunessy, survivor of the Knickerbocker Theater Disaster, January 28, 1922, Washington, DC.According to newspaper accounts and the Memorial Booklet, she and her daughter, Ruth, suffered serious injuries, while her husband, Edward H. Shaunessy, was killed in the collapse.
The 1930 census for Washington, DC, shows Myrtle Shaughnessy, age 47, and her daughter, Ruth, age 18.Myrtle was widowed, married at age 27, born in Iowa, her father was born in Ireland, her mother was born in Iowa, and she was employed as a clerk for the US Government. Her daughter, Ruth, was born in Illinois, and Ruth's father, Edward H. Shaughnessy, was born in Illinois.
