I knew that the name Scarth originated in the Orkney's and that it belonged to a family that settled there in the 15th century from Norway, but did you know that the family had managed to invade the North West of England! And further afield, I have relatives in N. Devon, the Lake District and locally on the Wirral. From the little I know from my father in law (I'm a Scarth by marriage) the family also has relatives in the States. I would love to know more about the connection, and I'm sure there is one, as its such an unusual name, look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers
Pauline
