Marie and Nat,
I, too have Sheibley at this time period, but my immigrant John Baptist Sheibley (he was illegitimate) came to Crawford County, Ohio (which is on the southern border of Seneca Co., Bloom Twp., about 1844 from Littenweiler, Kappel, Baden, (Germany). He and wife Mary Magdalena Link, whose hometown, for a good number of generations was Bremgarten, Freiberg, Baden, (Germany). They had children Magdalena Anna, Maria Johanna (deceased before 1834), Theresia, Charlotte, Maria Johanna (again), Albert and Bernhard, I know more about all but Charlotte.
And, be wary of German baptismal names as opposed to primary names; but I am sure that I don't have to tell you that.
Also Nat, a German B sounds like an English V that is why you see them as Shively in the census. The census taker was obviously not of German origin.
I await your response, please send it to [email protected] if in the month of Sept., if later send to [email protected].
