Prussia is Germany and I would check the Rheinland section to start with. A lot of Scheids can be found there.There is even a few towns with the name Scheid in it, like where my Scheids were from Brockscheid Rheinland Prussia Germany.

Also the name is most likely Scheid but some records show Scheidt because of the pronuncation of it. When the Germany entered New York most could not read or write and the mostly English record keepers spelled it the way it was pronounced.

Have you tried the family search page at www.familysearch.org this has a lot of church records from Germany that you may find of use.
