Minnesota Scheidness'es

I have always wondered about the origins of my paternal line - although I knew that my maiden name was German, it was VERY rare, and I could never trace its meaning.

The farthest back that I can trace my paternal bloodline is my paternal grandfather - his name was Francis Scheidness, and he lived in St. Paul, MN. He worked for the railroads.

Recently, however, I have begun trying to trace the origin of the Scheidness name, and have realized that its original spelling might have been "Scheidnis"...the "-nis" suffix, being added on to "Scheid.' I can find no other definitions or meanings for the name "Scheidness."

If anyone has any thoughts on this, I would love to hear from you - as well as any other Scheidness'es out there!
