I am trying to find additional records on this family. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is what I have so far:
One of my contacts has a copy of this newspaper obit that most likely was in a Bremer Co. Iowa newspaper, probably Waverly. Ruth was the sister of my grandmother, Mabel Victoria (Seekatz) Lane.
I know that Ruth was still alive in 1930 when their father, George Seekatz died, as there is a Harlington Cemetery record at Ancestry.com that mentions both daughters. In that one, Ruth's surname was spelt as SHADE rather than Schelle, so I'm not sure which is truly correct. I don't know exactly when Ruth was born, except it was after 1892, probably around 1894 or so, which would put her death c. 1939, give or take a couple of years.
I'm hoping that there was an obituary in the St. Louis news that gave more information, particularly her birth date & confirmation on the spelling of her surname & her daughter's first name. This obit was the first time that I learned that Ruth had a child before she died. But trying to learn what happened to her daughter won't be easy either. I have two photos showing Ruth with her sister Mabel & one includes both parents.
FORMER LOCAL WOMAN DIES IN ST. LOUIS
Waverly friends have received word of the death of Mrs. Fred Schelle of St. Louis, the former Ruth Seekatz of Waverly. Mrs. Schelle was about 45 years old. She died of Pneumonia in january after having been in ill health the past several years. She is survived by her husband and a daughter, Geneth.
(Maybe that should be Gwenth?) Sorry no dates given.
