Perhaps Anna E.'s father was a brother to the Frederick I am seeking.
Frederick Schmele was on the ship Friends Good Will in the early 1750's with Captain Crawford, headed for Charles Towne. However, Capt. Crawford put in at Cape Fear, near Wilmington, N.C.,reason unknown, took all the luggage of the passengers, and left them to walk to Charles Towne Aug/Sept, many dying on the way. My ancestor, George Reiser/Riser was on the ship with Frederick Schmele, and Frederick is said to have said, "It was our misfortune to have arrived on the ship...Capt. Crawford..." This forum is the closest I have found to the spelling given me and I am hopeful one of you have an ancestor named Frederick Schmele and that he might have left some history with his family as to where he went/settled after his arrival The info re their arrival is in a Council Journal in Archives in Columbia, S.C.
