I was given this information by my great aunt who lives in Oregon like I do and was alive when my great-great grandfather lived. He spoke perfect german, as do I. I keep things simple unless I know someone speaks the language or I am more familiar with them. I also live by some recent well removed Wetzel(l)'s who have moved here in the last decade and they've verified the info. also. They too, married into the "Sherrer" family as they spelled it. "Hans" still has a little problem getting those english words out, but at least I get to practice my spoken german.
