My mother (Margaret Sames Ruane) was a niece of Charles and Sophia Kloss Schieber.I grew up a next door neighbor to the Schieber family. They were also our landlord.Charles died before I was born (1928)Sophia died in 1940.
Children:
Francis never married - lived at home (738 Beech St.) until his death in 1944
George ran the family bakery up until 1920 when the bakery was converted into a two family home.My parents moved there in 1920.He continued to work as a baker for other concerns in Scranton. He had two daughters, Henrietta and Mercedes.
Frederick worked for many years as an engineer in South America for the Lone Star Cement Company. He had one daughter, Betty Ann.(your mother?)I remember the family coming to Scranton every few years for a visit. After leaving South America, Fred and his wife settled in Hudson New York where he continued working for the cement company.I spent a few weeks during the summer of 1944 helping them get settled (cleaning, moving furniture, etc.)They retired in Florida where Fred died from complications of an auto accident.Verna continued liviing in Florida with visits toGrace in Scranton.
Grace Schieber Fueller was a nurse and spent many years at a hospital in Elkton, Maryland. After Frank died she moved back to Scranton working as a nurse there. She retired and took care of her sister Maria for many years until Maria's death. I am not sure of the date of her death.I was in Italy at the time. After my parents death, I would spend a few days each summer at her home.
Joseph was married with one daughter.I think he worked as an insurance agent or something similar.
Maria never married and worked as a seamstress for many years at the same time keeping house for her mother until she died about 1940.She continued keeping house for her brother Frank until his death.Shortly after that she contracted Multiple Schlorosis and died on September 15, 1969.
