Hi Craig,
I have only recently began researching the Schilling line in Northern Kentucky.I currently have it traced back to John (or Johannes) Schilling who was born in Alsace-Lorraine (Germany) on Feb. 17, 1842 (according to his death certificate). He was married to Philomena Diebold in about 1872, but I have never found the marriage record. The Diebold family were from Bracken County, KY, but were associated with the Stepstone community which was a small catholic sect in Pendleton Co., KY.John and Philomene (Diebold) Schilling were in Bracken County in the 1910 census but the children were in Campbell County. In 1920, John Schilling was a widow living with his children in Campbell County. The 1930 census shows he was born in Alsace-Lorraine.He died on May 13, 1930 and is buried in St. Stephens Cemetery in Fort Thomas.John and Philomene had at least 8 children I can trace through census records:Frederick Jacob in 1873, Mary Margaretha in 1876, Emma in 1878, Margaret in 1881, George Valentine in 1883, John Sebastian in 1886, Joseph in 1889 and Bertha in 1892.The children seem to have all been born in Bracken County, KY and possibly christened at Stepstone Church.Looks like your Joseph may be a connection.rick lyons
