Clark,
Very interesting about your wife's ancestor "Samuel Schlauch" coming from Germany and settling in PA.About what time did Samuel come from Germany?Don't think there's a connection to mine because the census states that my Samuel was born in PA about 1815 and he's listed with his family in the 1850 census as well as with his elderly (66) father and grown siblings in an adjacent township of Lancaster Co., PA. Interesting to note that my family has used just about every spelling possible: Schlauch, Schlouch, Schlough, Schlaugh, Slaugh and after 1860, Slough.
Thanks,
Barry K. Krueger
