Gustave Schleicher was a surveyor in Texas before and after the Texas war for independence. He went to the U.S. House of Representatives after Texas joined the Union. His descendants still live in the Uvalde, Texas area. He arrived in Texas as part of the Bettina Colony, a group of scientists, philosophers, writers and such which soon dispersed from the central Texas area. Your grandfather, Arthur Richard Schleicher, Jr., was born in Lincoln, NE.
