Schleis/Slice Family in MN

My husband's family (Slice) was originally Schleis. The Bohemian roots are with Wolfgang Schleis who married Mary Koutnik. Their son, Joseph, born "Joseph Schleis" came to the U.S.A., settling in near Montgomery, MN and changed their name to "Slice." The other variation of the name was "Slyce." I've searched on the Ellis Island Records site www.ellisislandrecords.org and can't come up with the exact dates of Joseph's emmigration to the U.S., however on www.familysearch.org Joseph Schleis' birth is registered for 1866. He died in 1911. I thought it interesting that you had both family names "Schleis" and "Koutnik." I've been unable to find anything about Mary Koutnik. (9/25/01)
