You should research Schmaling's Farm in Greenwich Ct. The farm house still stands on King Street which is only about 1 mile from the New York Border and Purchase NY. Fred Schmaling was my Great Great Grandfather. His son Arthur was my Grandfather and his oldest son Lester was my father. Not all Schmalings headed west but very many did. Only two of us ended in California. Wayne Schmaling (me) in American Canyon CA (North of San Francisco and Kenneth Schmaling (my first cousin) who lives in La Habra CA (Near Disneyland in Southern CA. Most Schmalings are bured in Greenwodd Union Cemetasrin in Rye NY and you should be able to get more info from them.

Good luck. I have the oral history my fathers uncle did of Schmalings farm if it will help any. In ny case you might find it interesting to see what the New York / Connecticut Schmalings were up to way back when.

Amy is my second cousin. I haven't seen her or her family so more years than I can count.

Wayne Schmaling
