Do you have anything on a Martin Schmid from Herbrechtingen, Germany?I have found him in the Bexar County, Texas voting polls as far back as 1846.He settled in Selma, Texas in 1854 with his wife, Johanna nee Geier, and her parents, Wilhelm and Theodora Geier. The Geiers were Wolfenbuettel and are listed in the 1850 New Braunfels, Texas census records. The Geiers lived for a short time at 4-mile-creek (Solms), Texas before moving to Selma. As far as I can determine, Johanna, was the Geier's only child.Martin and Johanna's children were:
Martin died in 1880 and was buried on his farm
Johanna died in 1894 and was buried on her farm with her husband and parents
(don't know when the Geier's died)
William Schmid (killed in a shootout in Davenport (Bracken) Texas in 1889. Left 5 children and his widow, Augusta, who later married a John Renken.
Sam Schmid(died 1925 in San Antonio, Tx)
Mary Elizabeth Schmid Wuest (Otto) Bueche (don't know when she died or where)
Sedonia Schmid Haile (died in 1909 in Selma and was buried on Schmid farm)
an infant, Johanna, who died as a small child
