John Schmidt and Charles Phillippi

I am looking for any information about John Schmidt and Charles Phillippi who came to Walker county Georgia around 1853.
They wanted to make wine. They placed an ad in Vol XVI 1858 in the Southern Cultivator to sell and plant grapes. Does any one have information on these individuals.I am really interested if anyone has information about where they might have come form in Germany.
