Searching for more concrete information in addition to family writings to clarify Eberhart Geberhard Schmidt or Schmitt, b1741, mar.1860 to Maria M (Margreda?) Strassburger. supposedly came over from Germany with family...but which group?
their daughter, Maria Margreda Schmitt b1767 married Frederick A Steigerwalt (I) born 1780 Germany? PA?, died Rowan, NC
Their son, Frederick A Stirewalt (II) , b1805 Rowan, NC, d1897 Rowan, NC. He married Catharine Schmitt Smith, b1806 Rowan, d 1891. she was daughter of John Schmitt Smith.
My family has too many names doubling and tripling as they twist around, making search so difficult. the Steigerwalt/Stirewalt name is still around the Berks, Lehigh, Carbon County Pa areas.
I hope someone has less of a muddled mess than I have!
