Myron Emil Schmidt obituary submitted

Myron, 93 lost his battle with dementia on October 4, 2011. Myron passed away peacefully at the Golden Living Center in Slayton, MN. He was born on September 10th, 1918 to the late Emil and Bertha Schmidt of Tracy, MN and was raised on the famiy farm south of Tracy. Myron was one of five children and will be forever remembered by his devoted brother Elgin Schmidt of Lakefield, MN and loving sister Bernice Edwards of Tracy, MN.

He farmed with his family until 1939 when he was united in marriage to Marian Piper of Walnut Grove, MN. Myron & Marian moved to a farm north of Tracy to begin their life together. They farmed and raised livestock for 45 years. Their three beloved children were born and raised on the family farm. He will be lovingly remembered by his son, William (Bill) and Brandy Schmidt of Calwell, ID; daughter, Beverly Sabinske of Shakopee, MN and son, Robert (Bob) and Marla Schmidt of Slayton, MN. Myron and Marian retired from the farm in 1984 and moved to Slayton, MN. They celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary on September 29, 2011.

Myron loved playing with his grandchildren, laughing with his family, fishing, hunting and gardending. He loved helping others and you could always count on him for a helping hand. He touched the livsd of many with his smile and generosity.

The memory of Myron will be cherished by his loving grandchildren: Jacqueline (Sabinske) Punch of Woodbury, MN; Donald Sabinske of Simmerman, MN; Stacey (Schmidt) Steinbach of Monticello, MN; Wyatt Schmidt of Caldwell, IA and Annabelle (Annie) Schmidt of Caldwell, IA. He was adored by his loving Great Grandchildren: Madeline (Maddie) Punch, Emily Punch, Chase Sabinske, William (Will) Sabinske, Grantham (Grant) Steinbach and Sasha Steinbach. He will also be remembered by countless other family and friends whom were blessed to have known him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Emil & Bertha Schmidt, his brother Rolland (Rollie) Schmidt and his sister Eileen Schmidt.

There will be a memorial service and visitation on October 21, 2011 at the Methodist Church in Slayton, MN, Pastor Tom Hartwell officiating.
