Dezember 1939 vordatiert. (On Jan. 1st, 1941 he was given a commission antedated back to 1 Dec. 1941.) (From the beginning he sympathised with the military opposition also.) (With the Eastern Campaign he made the garrison politix his own.) (On the first of March was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.) (He still belonged to the OKH as of JAn. 1, 1943.) (He transferred into the Fuehrer Officers' Reserve June 15th, '43.) (In Aug. (As such he was now with them in Italy.) (On the eighth of May he was awarded the German Cross in Gold.) (On June 16th, '44 he was wounded and brought to the Infirmary at Bad Toelz.) Dort ist er dann am 25. Juli 1944 seinen Verwundungen erlegen. (There he succumbed to his wounds July 25th, '44.) (He was then posthumously promoted to the rank of General from July 1st. '44.) (With his death, this noble line became extinct and he was buried in Gattendorf among his fathers, the lords of the manor of Gattendorf in Kirchgattendorf.)"

The foregoing was his official war and military service record;however, he simultaneously served as V-3725 in German miliotray intelligence and as a double-agent in MI-5 and the wounding at Bad Toelz was a cover as simulated eye injuries provided an opportunity for him to bury a substitute at Kirchgattendorf in the Schloss's family vault there whilst remaining deployed the rest of the war in aiding many to escape to Venezuela via U-boat as well as the southern route to Milan. As his first wife, Liliana Thordsen, was barren, he had contracted both a 2nd marriage to a Vril Dame (priestess) in the Vril Tempel in 1937 attended by the Duke and Duchess of Windsor and filmed by Leni Riefenstahl, as well as children in the Lebensborn programme. In '45 he aided Maria Orschitsch and his second wife, niece of Franziska Romana Oettingen who had organised the Ramsau Enclave in919, in their escape to Milan, and thereafter traded Orschitsch's information on Vril technology to General Patton in exchange for their inclusion in Operation Paperclip. This technology was later developed by Hitler's nephew, Patrick Stuart-Houston, at Brookhaven Lab, which he founded.
Von ALtenstadt also published a book, "Trudging Throuh the Mire (Mud) with the Infantry Division".
