Looking for additional info on the Schmidts of Pittsburgh. Father: Joseph Schmidt (Born about 1824 PA); Mother: Caroline Allgaier (Born 1833 Bavaria). Apparently Caroline was married to an Anton(Antonio) Reiser from Baden and had three children: George Reiser B. 1858 New Jersey; Caroline Reiser B. 1862 Parkersburg, WV; Emma Reiser B. 1863 WV. After Caroline (Allgaier) Reiser married Joseph Schmidt, they had four children: Elisabeth B. 1866 Pittsburgh, Kate B. 1869 Pittsburgh, Joseph B. 1870 PA, Mary B. 1876 PA.
The name was Schmidt/Schmitt/Smith. I have seen it spelled all three ways. My Grandfather was Joseph (B. 1870) Smith.
Anyone with any knowledge of Joseph Schmidt's parents please contact me. Also, I have no info on George Reiser or Kate Schmidt.
