Patrick,
I haven't thought about Schneider being shortened from another, longer surname, but it is highly possible and probable. I believe the A. D. stood for something like Anthony Dielen, seeing the Dielen, which is alot like Dillen, would make me look into this even close. Thanks for the hint!
