I.m curious to know if your John ever had relatives come over in later years. My grandfather came in 1913 with his wife Katherine E. Heffel, and 4 children Mary, Amelia Katherine {my Mom] and Henry. They settled in Wisc. The paper that gave them the right to come shows them coming from New Weimar, Germany. It seems they would have had family already here.
