A Mattheus Schneider was the father of Hermann G. Schneider b. c. 1753 Frankenburg-Hesse Germany and so on a whim, wonder if your Matthaus could be his father. They of different areas, but according to dates a possibility. We (and there are quite a few of us trying to prove this) have family lore info. that Hermann/Harmon Schneider was a Hessian soldier, in the service of the King of England during the Rev. War. The name Mattheus was given as father of Hermann when he md. Elizabeth Baughman 1781 PA.
