I am lookin for information on my gr-gr-grandmother Salome "Sally" Schneider's family. She was born in the Alsace-Lorraine area, which changed hands from French to German and back again. She was born on Aug. 25, 1867 in Sunohoffen, Andolsheim, Haut Rhine, Colmar. Her father was Michael Schneider born in 1817 and her mother was Barbara Woelffin (or Walfflin) born in 1826. Her parents were German and the birth record they signed when she was born was translated from the French in which it was written to German so they could understood it.
The Schneider's lived in Chicago, Ill when Sally married George Husser on May 11, 1889. George was born on April 30, 1862 in Jebsheim, Andolsheim, Haute Rhine, Colmar. I don't know when or where either the Schneiders or Hussers arrived in this county.
