In 1992 a few relatives and I put together a family book of the Schneiders 1650's through 1992. Our family came from Hohst im Odenwald which is 15 miles east of Darmstadt and in the state of Hessen (duchy of Hesse-Darmstadt). The Schneider records at Hochst are limited. Their earlier records are in the church at Sanbach which probably were their original home. The Schneiders lived several hundred years in Schloss-Nauses which is an old water castle (still standing). The last Schneiders living in Schloss Nauses died in the 1950's

If you are interested, I will look through the book, but I don't want to take the time if you have already found what you are looking for. Let me know all the information you have and I will try to track down something.

My Schneider ancestor came from Hesse-Darmstadt in 1841. Arrived in Albany, NY and took a boat to Cleveland, OH and then down the Ohio-Erie Canal to Stark County, OH. The family has grown considerably since the. In 1992 & 1993 we had reunions attended by hundreds of Schneiders from around the country. Lots of fun. My mother is Margaret Schneider Gray.

Take care,
