The name Valantine Schneider appears among the earliest pioneers of Lynn Township who said to have settled there about 1735. In a list of heads of families published of this district, many years ago, there appears the name of Bernhard Schneider; and about that time he lived in the southwestern section of Lynn, there also lived a Heinrich Schneider in the northwestern section. Jacob Snyder, on Oct. 11, 1765, took out a warrant for 107 acres of land located in this district. In the assessment roll of dec. 27, 1781 these names appear: Heinrich, Bernhard, Henry and Daniel; and in the tax list 30 years later, in 1812, when the county was erected, the following names appear: Jacob, Henry, John, Peter, Jacob, George, William, John, Samuel, Peter and Christian; whick list includes the name of John Snyder among the single freeman. In the court house at Easton, there is a record of John Peter "Schnyder", of Lynn who died in 1777. The given name of his wife was Catharine. The executor was Frederick Sechler. Heinrich Schneider, lived in the southeaster section of Lynn township. He is buried on the old graveyard at New Tripoli, he was born April 17, 1749 and died Nov. 15, 1822 in his 73 year. Children; Heinrich, Johanness, and Peter, all of whom remained in the district. Heinrich, son of Heinrich Schneider was the oldest of the father's family and he succeeded to the homestead farm. Among his children was another son, Heinrich, who was born April 10, 1795, marrried March 2, 1822 to Lydia Holben. He died July 23, 1849 in his 55th year. His wife born in 1804, and died Aug. 23,1862. They had 3 sons and one daughter; Henry, John,and Mary, who married Erasmus Muse. Henry H. Snyder, son of Heinrich was born April 24, 1821, he married Lydia Hantz, who was born 1828 and died in 1868, she was the d/o of Daniel, of Lynn township. They had 9 sons and 3 daughters, namely, Henry, Amandus of Berks County, Mary, who married Henry Snyder, William, who died in 1911 in Alaska, Jonas of Stoney Run, John M., Alvin of Lansford, Martin V., Lizzie who married Samuel Bailey of Grimville, Levi of Slatington, Wilson, and Ellen. Henry Snyder, was born in Lynn township, March 19, 1847, he married Elizabeth Beers, d/o John and Susan (Schuch) Beers, a farmer of NJ. Children; Henry J., George B., Charles, who died at age 28 and is buried in West Penn township and Ella J., the wife of Olvier Haas,of Lizzard Creek Junction, PA. George B.Snyder of the firm of REITZ AND SNYDER AT PALMERTON, PA., was born in Lynn township, Jan. 6, 1876, he married in 1897 to Mary Snyder, a d/o Adam and Mary (Beers) Snyder. They had one daughter, Ruth Pauline. Members of the Reformed Church. John M. Snyder, of Rittersville, he was born at Lynnville, March 13, 1857. He married March 13, 1876 to Maria Schnable. She was the d/o Gideon and Eliza (Snyder) Schnable. They had 2 children, George R., who lived in Rittersville, he married Julia Kresge, and Addied, who married Milton Schlicher, they lived in Rittersville, and they had 2 children, John and William. Martin V. Snyder, lived at W. Bethlehem, he married Ella Long, children, Minie who married Robert Schlenker, Ella, Jennie, the wife of Clayton Klepinger. Both of these girls lived in Allentown.
