Simon Scheider, the progenitor of this branch of the "Snyder" family, is said to have emigrated from Switzerland. He arrived at Phila., Nov. 22, 1752. His wife's name was Anna Elizabeth ______, and they had 5 children; Rosina, born 1771, Bettina, bor 1774, Samuel, born Aug. 14, 1777, Philip, born March 22, 1781, and Elizabeth, born 1786.
Samuel Snyder, married Margaret Heil, born Sept. 7, 1780 and died March 1, 1862, a d/o of Jacob Heil and his wife Eva. They had 6 children; (1) Jacob married _____Mueller, and had 6 children (John, Samuel, David, Jacob, Susanna, who married Alexander Roth, and ____ who married ______Christman); (2) Samuel Heil, (3) John married Lydia Kern and had 6 children, (Jonas, Matthias, Sarah married Daniel Shell, Diana, who married Jonas WETZEL, Susanna, who married Charles Moyer, Lydia who married Reuben Schubert). (4) David, married _______Roeder, and two children, (Mary who married John Carl and Emmeline, who married Henry Berky. (5) Judith, married John Orth, and had 2 children ( Stephen and William). (6) Mary, married 1st Jacob Andrews, and 2nd to Jonathan Schiffert, and had 6 children (______, married _____Nuss, ______, married _____Wanner, _____, married _______Yeakel, ______, married _____Trump, ______, married Benjamin Andrews, and ________, married,William Schiffert.
Samuel Heil Snyder, 2nd son of Samuel. In 1841 he married Lydia Litchtenwalner, d/o George and Maria (Knauss). She was born May 3, 1813, died Nov. 8, 1880, and was buried at Fairview cemetery, Polo, IL. They had 7 children; 1. Leon L., 2. Milton, at Polo, IL., married Lucinda Trumbauer and had 2 children, (Minnie, who married Harvey Heathcock and Dr. Charles Snyder of Waterloo, Iowa), 3. Maria who died in infancy, 4. Amandus, married Lucy Schuler and had 4 children (Charles who died young, Linnie, who married George LITCHTY, Titus, married Dorcas Frey, John, married Minnie Bieber). 5. Elvina married James Reed, at Polo, IL., and had 6 children (Mattie, died young, Elmer, Bertha who marrried ______Sweet, a farmer of Polo, Ida, Ralph, Harry, who died at age 6), 6 Eli, at Sedgwick, of Kanas, married Sadie Richardonson and had 3 children, (Goldie, Sadie, and Hattie), and Eli, married 2nd and had a son (Eli and a daughter) 7. Samuel, of Waverly, Ohio, married Maggie Wolf, and had 2 children, (Harmon and Mary Marguerite).
