Daniel Snyder (subject) The family of which Daniel Snyder, of East Huntingdon twp., is a member has been for four generations resident in Westmoreland County. The great-grandfather came from Germany and settled in what is now Scottdale, he was twice married, having three sons and three daughters by his first wife. The sons were; John, Nicholas and Jacob. By his second wife he was the fathers of children; Gaspard, Peter, Betsey, who married John Crouchenour, and another daughter marrried a Mr. McFadden.

Peter Snyder, settled in Rostraver township. He moved to Fayette county. He married Catharine Banthers, by whom he was the father of the following; John, of Pittsburg, Jacob, who moved to Iowa, died there, Peter, moved to Fayette county, William of Fayette county, Daniel, Margaret, died unmarried, Frank, of Michigan, Henry, of Vanderbilt, PA., Mary, the wife of Joseph McGinnis.

Daniel, the son of Peter, was born Dec. 11, 1824 in Rostraver township, he moved to Fayette county age 18. Member of the M.E. Church. He married Dec. 15, 1859, to Catharine A., d/o Alexander and Catharine (Sharboudy) Regan. Children; Z.N. lived in Colo., he married Margaret Smith, and had (Laura and Tindell), Ellen, married A.Zerley and had (Bert, Gertrude, Daniel, Clyde), Cyrus, married Cordelia Hough and had (Ella, Samuel, Z., and Daniel), John W., married Marianna Taylor, and had ( Catharine, Taylor, Ruth and Harry), Louise, the wife of L.L. Hough, and they had (Harry, Catharine, Nora, George and Ralph), Bert, married Mary Francis, and they had, (Francis, Edwin, Ethel, William, and Walter), Edwin A., of San Jose, Calif., married Sarah Llewelly and they had no children.

Albert Snyder (subject). Samuel Snyder, father of Albert, of Vandergrift, was born 1838, married ____Stiffey; Children, Samuel of Pittsburg, Belle, the wife of John Saltsgibber, Mary, the wife of L.L. Borlan, Kate, the wife of John Borlan, Lizzie, the wife of James Cummings, and Albert.

Albert, was born April 14, 1872, married July 5, 1895 to Maggie L., d/o John P. Sutton of Cokeville. Children, Laura Belle, and Anna l.

Charles Elijah Snyder, M.D. (subect) His great-great-great-grandfather came to America about 1700 or possibly a little earier, settled near Phila, and soon located near Easton, Northampton county.

Mathias Snyder, "the great-grand father", with his wife -----Gross, and their three children started west in 1794 and crossed the mountains and settled three miles north of what is now Jeanette, Westmoreland County, and rearded a family of five sons and two daughter, John, Jacob, Peter, Daniel, Jonathan, Harriet and Mahala.

The 3rd child, Peter was a babe in arms when the family came to Westmoreland county and was carried the entire way in his mother's arms. Peter was born 1793 or 4, settled one mile east of Claridge, he married Lydia "Kowe", they had 8 children, Hexekiah, John, Cryus, Uriah, Lydia, Polly, Lavina, Mahala.

Charles Elijah Snyder, was born in Penn township, Westmoreland county, on Nov. 3, 1863 the son of Cyrus and Lydia ("Kline") Snyder, both of whom were likewise bon and reared in that twp., the former born Dec. 1842 and the latter, Nov.1842, and was the daughter of John "Kline" Cyrus and Lydia had (Charles Elijah, and William K.) members of the Reformed church.

Charles Elijah, married June 10, 1897 to Eva Jane Campbell, born and rearded in Mount Pleasant twp., the d/o Hiram and Mary (Speigle) Campbell. Children, Helen M., and Richard C.
