Is it possible that John Schneider might have lived near Toledo, Ohio? My great great grandmother, Susanna Schneider, emigrated to Toledo in July 1872, upon the death of her mother, the former Dorothy Arnold. She was 16 at the time and sailed on The Spain. Supposedly, she was coming to meet her father, John who had “preceded the family here several years,” accoding to one source.

On the ship’s manifest, Susanna is listed as ein Badenserin, meaning that she came from the German region of Baden. Another reference indicates that she was from the Black Forest, which would be consistent, although the exact location is unknown. There are some Schneider family records at Schiltach, Germany, a town about 75 miles south of Heidelberg.

Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.
