Dear Geri,
Thanks for responding. None of those links help. I have done EVERY census 1790-1900 for Snyders. Peter Snider Jr.(later spelled Snyder) notes he was born NJ. His wife Harriet E. Raub in the 1850 census notes she was born PA as were 3 of her first children:from census data
Caroline Snyder Born 13 Apr. 1844-6 Feb. 1862 (she was living with Peter and Harriet E. in 1850 census; don't know if she belongs to them?)
John N. Snyder b. Sept. 1847 Died 19 Oct. 1851 bor. Knowlton Frame Cemetery,Knowlton NJ.
Sarah Margaret Snyder b . abt 1849
Emma Snyder Born 26 May 1850, D. 13 october 1851
Sarah Catherine (Kate) Snyder B. 1853-Mariage 18 Oct. 1887
to Edmond W. Kishpaugh (lived in Newton NJ
Peter A. Snyder born 27 Dec 1855 Warren,Knowlton; not listed in 1860 census-died? Listed on IGI to Peter and Harriet E. Snider
Ira Anderson Snyder Born abt. 1856-listed in 1860 census,1870 and then as Anderson Snyder in 1890 Portland PA
with Peter and Harriet living with him as well as Frank Snyder age 11 (whom I believe to be Caroline Snyder Kinney's child-both parents died (father Jesse Kinney)
Clark Wilbur Snyder b. 21 Dec. 1859 Warrington, Knowlton NJ
(my gr. gr. married Lillie Weller dau. of Michael Weller and Sarah Alice Shannon)He died 23 July 1792.
Laura Jane (originally spelled Lora Jane on census) born 22 March 1862 married 1890 George Kishpaugh living in Newton NJ 1900.

Their first son is named John N. (after the grandfather? usually...(it IS possible that Peter b. 1818 had a first wife who died and their son was a Peter)however, John raises a question!

Peter Snyder Sr., wife Leah shows his parents (I have the record) to be Henry Snider/Snyder and Charlotte King. I can't even find their marriage! He is buried Knowlton Frame Cemetery B. 1760-d. 1841; Charlotta is bur. there also and is in Knowlton Church records. 4 churches met at Knowlton Church NJ for protection from the indians acc. to church records there- Knowlton NJ;Dryland from PA;Plainfield from PA and Easton from PA; hence much confusion as to where these people came from PA or NJ.

I suppose that Henry could have been John Henry, using his middle name Henry as was common to do at that time.

As to the Raubs, Kern (geneologist) believes William to be the son of Michael Raub and Anna Kuhl. ALL of their children save William are listed in Knowlton Church births.
William COULD be the oldest and born PA; however I find NO child named William born to Michael and Anna Raub in the right timeframe (1787-1791). I have viewed every PA church record that exists! The ONLY child I can find William born to is Jacob Raub-one in NJ and one in PA. Also, William's wife Elizabeth Shackleton is one I DO have information on. Kern data on her is wrong. Kern lists her death as 1864 which is the same date as the Elizabeth who dies in Indiana married to another man (2nd husband) which is NOT possible. I found that marriage 2 years BEFORE William Raub marries Elizabeth. William Raub marries Elizabeth in 1811 Warren Co. NJ I know they are Harriet's parents because they are listed as such on Harriet's death cert. I cannot find Peter's burial even though I have his dates abt. 1818-2 Feb. 1892. AND I don't know where Harriet is buried! I wrote to PA and visited there twice and they claim they have no records. Pa death records at the state level begin in 1893. He died 1892. Northampton Co. claimed first that there was a fire. The second time they said there was a flood and papers got wet and molded.
Either way, even with a death date knowing he died in Portland PA-there is no record!

That is unless he is a Henry Peter or a Daniel Peter or a John Peter who used his middle name. Being that the census data 1850 and 1860 in Warren Co. Knowlton used the names Peter Snyder SR. and Peter Snyder JR., one assumes they are related.

If Harriet's father was William Raub and Elizabeth Shackleton; Kern notes they had 7 children. One Raub relative supposes that these children might be noted in Phillipsburg Church. Knowlton records end about 1816.
I have no access to Phillipsburg NJ records. I have been unable to find Harriet's birth. Her death cert. says she was born Sept. 1825. The bicentenniel booklet for Warren Co. NJ mentions Rev. Edward Barass (who maried Peter and Harriet in 1843) connected to a Baptist Episcopal Church in Delaware NJ, Edward Barass being htier first pastor. That church ends in 1872. The pews from this church go the Portland PA-as do Peter and Harriet between 18885 NJ State census and 1890 census. I called that church in Portland PA, spoke with the secretary there who said the pastor there (Baptist Church) left and took the church records with him! I am told Baptists baptise people as an adult, so births may not be listed. I am back to square one; but NOT for lack of trying.

I am really impressed at your being so kind to EVERYONE giving information you have collected. You are truely amazing and deserve a big thank you from alot of people!
Many thanks for trying to help me with my plight. Wish I had the answer for my mother before she died. She never knew her Snyder line-or her grandfather Snyder as her Grandfather was Clark Snyder and his father Peter died the same year 1892 before she was born. She was born 1912-died 12003. My grandmother (mother's mother) was Grace Uhler Brugler, and apparantly she too did not know them.
My grandfather Lester Snyder may have known of them. He was born 1888 and was only 4 years old when his father died. His brother Lewis Snyder died at the same time as his father Clark. Clark Snyder was sheriff of Warren Co. NJ-that is all I know of him other than that he was also a teacher-Fairview school NJ.
Thanks-
Shirl
