Hi Jen,

I have info on your Schneiders.

Anthony SCHNEIDER & Margaret baptized the following children at Dryland Church, Hecktown, PA:

John Peter Schneider, b. March 31, 1767, bp. May 3, sponsors Peter PFEIFFER and wife Catharina.

Carl Henry Schneider, b. March 1, 1769, bp. May 7, sponsors Carl WERKHAUSER and wife Anna.

Catharine Barbara Schneider, bp. April 28, 1771, sponsors Lawrence YOUNG and Catharine Barbara JUNG.

Matthias Schneider, b. Nov. 1, 1773, bp. March 28, 1774, sponsors Matthias HUMMEL and wife Barbara. (This is probably the same Catharine Barbara Jung who sponsored the previous baptism. Margaret's name is given here as Anna Margaret)

John Schneider, b. Aug. 20, 1774, bp. ..... 20, 1774, sponsors Anna Maria MOSER and John GLECKNER.

Anthony died about 1777. There is a book of abstracts of wills, etc. in the Easton Public Library which mentions that his widow Margaret did something shortly after his death. (Unfortunately I can't find the piece of paper that I photocopied) Then a year or so later, another action was recorded for Anthony's estate, taken by Margaret, wife of George RUSHEL. Margaret and George had several children of their own:

at Dryland:

Rosina RISCHEL, b. Aug. 13, 1781, bp. Oct. 7, 1781, sponsors Jacob SEIB and wife Rosina.

then they moved to the Schoenersville Church:

Michael Rischel, b. March 23, 1783, bp. Oct. 8, 1783, sponsors Michael MEYER and wife Barbara.

Johannes Rischel, b. Feb. 17, 1785, bp. March 14, 1785, sponsors Johannes HUBER and wife Susanna.

then they moved to Salem church in Moore Township, northwest of Schoenersville:

Maria Elizabeth Rischel, b. Dec. 10, 1786, bp. March 11, 1787, sponsors Andreas SCHALL and Maria JOTTER.

Anna Maria Rischel, b. ....., 1789, bp. June 7, 1789, sponsors Andreas Schall and Maria Jotter.

So Margaret was having children between the years 1767 and 1789, so this puts her likely date of birth between 1746 and 1751. Of course, there's always the chance that she had more kids that I haven't found.

At the Schoenersville church, several of the Schneider children are confirmed, and their entries in the church book list them as the stepchildren of George Rischel. I believe that the Catherine Barbara Schneider above is the same Barbara Schneider who married John Nicholas KLECKNER / GLOECKNER on June 3, 1790, at the same church. In fact, I had thought that Barbara Schneider was my ancestor, but it looks like I'm probably descended from Nicholas Kleckner's second wife Anna Maria SEIP. (Nicholas Kleckner was married 3 times: Barbara Schneider was #3.)

The book of wills, etc. mentioned above also has an entry for Michael RISHELL, Moore Township, in the year 1830. It mentions a George Rishell. The abstract is not explicit about the relationship between Michael and George, but it seems to imply that Michael's father had died not too long beforehand, and that estate had not been fully settled yet, either. If this is the same Michael who was born in 1783, then I suppose his father could have still been alive in 1830. I guess Michael's father had been living in Columbia County, PA, a few counties northwest of Northampton. It didn't mention anything about a Margaret Rishell, so perhaps she was dead by then. There are several RISHEL's living in the Columbia County area in the early 1800's but I couldn't find any connections between these and Michael/George Rishel.

Hope this info helps you out!

-Bill
