I know I am abit late with this conversation, but I just received the family information.
James Colcraft(also spelled Colcroft)Schoolcraft
Came to America from England during the reign of Queen Anne (1702-1714) and settled in Albany County, NY.Was surveyer and geologyist.Later became a teacher and conducted the first English School of importance in America. As a result changed his surname to Schoolcraft.
Grandson Lawrence Schoolcraft son of Lawrence Schoolcraft(which I had no information on) B - 1768 m- Margaret Anne Barbar Rowe was a church deacon in the Reformed Church of Watervliet, NY in 1788; Fought with the Colonies at Fort Stanwix and Fort Ticonderog; Became a colonel in the War of 1812; Was in the glassmaking business, starting in 1802 in Hamilton, NY; 4 children - 1)Peter B-1790 d? 2) Henry Rowe - B 3-28-1793 in Hamilton, NY d- 12/10/1864 in Wash., DC 3)Lawrence b?d? m- Jane Peek 2 children 4)James Lawrence m. Ann(a) Marie Johnston.
