Eric, Hello!I'm afraid that things for the S. Famly Association sort of "sagged" with the deaths of Bill and Ruth Heidgard - whom I consider saints of Genealogy. I have all current volumes of the genealogies they so carefully compiled over many years - with the help of Carol Johnson and Willem Shoemaker.
I have in my possession a copy of our REAL coat of arms, sent to my grandfather, George W. Schoonmaker* in 1901 by the Holland Society. It has been authenticated by authorities in the Netherlands.I don't know WHY - other than sentiment for Ken Hasbrouck - that we are still using his cartoon of a hammer and shoemaker's last as our coat of arms. He wasn't all that serious about it.
And I am sending my dues immediatly. Sorry for the delay. (Embarrassed grin.)- Gretty, a.k.a. Oma Gretje, but actually Gretchen Schoonmaker Ellis.
*lineage: Hendrick-Jochem-Jan-Lodewyck-Michael-Daniel-Michael Vreeland-George Washington S. sr.-George W. jr.- James Yeaton Schoonmaker (d.), my father.
I regret to report the loss of the last of my Dad's siblings, my Aunt, Elsibeth Schoonmaker Botts of Bartlesville, OK, last year at age 102.
