Just a shot in the dark! My great grandmother Wilhelmina Schuck married one John Milek. The family arrived in USA arount 1872/74 and took up residency in Chicago. Wilhelmina was a midwife until her death in 1889. She is buried in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in the Schuermann family plot. Her dau Catherine Milek married Dr. Fred Schuermann. I had viewed a diary of my Uncle John Milek saying he had visited relatives in Chicago area in 1904. There are voting records for grgrfa John Milek and son Martin in the 1880 voting registration. It is believed my Milek family resided in Mainz. My grgrmo Wilhelmina is reported to have studied medicine in Germany. I have a photo of her with her medical 'satchel'. The Milek ancestry is very elusive. It seems they came from nowhere to USA. In 1994 the Illinois phone book listed a dozen Schuck families. When my great grandparents arrived in USA they went to relatives in Peoria. My contact was fruitless as they Schuck's did not show any interest in a connection.
Wish I could be of help. MJK
