I have seen the name spelled "Dschuck" also, but believe "Schuck", and later "Duke", to be the correct spelling.
The book, Cabarrus County NC Heritage 1999, on pg. 222, #598, says "Elizabeth [Duke] was born March 26, 1778, [in NC, Dutch Buffalo Creek, Cabarrus Co.] and is the daughter of Johann Sebastian Schunck and Anna Margaretha Meisenheimer. Elizabeth married Daniel Blackwelder (son of Caleb Blackwelder and Betsey Phifer) on Jan. 30, 1798. They had one daughter, also Elizabeth, who was born Dec. 3, 1798. Elizabeth [wife of Daniel] died Mar. 15, 1799, and is buried at St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Cabarrus Co., NC." Daniel soon after married Mary Frank.
