Franz Schuller
Franz Schuller, 78, of 427 North Street, Kiel, died Sunday morning, September 20, 2009 at his home after a brief battle with cancer.

He was born November 23, 1930 in Romania, son of the late Peter and Eliese (Schuller) Schuller.

Franz attended school in Romania.

He was a veteran of the Romanian Military.

On January 26, 1959 he married Katharina "Katie" G?llner in Romania at his home church which is 800 plus years old. He was baptized, received his First Communion and Confirmed in this church.

While living in Romania, Franz worked at various factories for ten years. He also worked for a Gas Company for 10 years, a Winery for 12 years and ended his working career in Romania at the Gas Company where he worked for an additional 8 years. In 1978 the couple immigrated to the U.S. He was employed at Land O' Lakes in Kiel from 1979 until his retirement in 1995.

Franz enjoyed gardening, wine making, working with wood, canning, conducting and attending rummage sales where he would sell his finished products.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Katie of Kiel; three daughters, Katie Eliese Schuller, Manitowoc, Hildegard "Hilde" (Dennis) Bennin, Chilton, Anna Marie (Rodney) Rivera, Layton, Utah; four grandchildren, Miranda, Zechariah, Zoe and Kaitlyn and one great-grandson, Lucas. He is further survived by three sisters, Emiele (Wilheim) Schuller, Anna (Michael) Schuller and Johanna (Gust) Alischer, all of Germany; brothers and sisters-in-law, Anna and Thomas Hallmen, John and Agnetta G?llner; mother-in-law, Anna G?llner, Germany; numerous nieces and nephews living in Germany, two nephews, Richard and John Schmitt of Wisconsin, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Edward Schuller and one sister, Elise Schmitt.

Funeral services for Franz will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 387 Cemetery Road, Kiel with Rev. Jeremy Cares officiating. Burial will take place in the Kiel City Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St., Kiel on Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. A family vigil prayer service will be held at 8:00 P.M. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established in his name.
