I think this could be the John Schuller you are looking for. This John Schuller's oldest son, Mathias, was born in Illinois. In the census record below, Mathias is 14 in 1870 and was probably born in 1855 or 1856 in Illinois. I found this today:

1870 Minnesota Census, Hennepin County, Crystal Lake, Page 89

Hopefully, this is the John Schuller you were looking for.

Schuller, John 44, Farmer, Prussia
Schuller, Lizzie 41, Keeping House, Prussia
Schuller, Mathias 14, Illinois
Schuller, Lizzie 11, Minnesota
Schuller, Hobart 8, Minnesota
Schuller, Albert 6, Minnesota
Schuller, Leo 5, Minnesota
Schuller, Susana 2, Minnesota
Kaueth, Christian 30, Farm Labour, Prussia
