Dear Amy,

I would try to find church records to see if they show the parents' names. If Catholic, the Archdiocese of St. Louis records were microfilmed by the Mormon church and are available through ther Family History Centers. The films are also at the St. Louis COUNTY library (not St. Louis PUBLIC Library). I am not sure what is available for Lutheran or Evangelical church records but some have been transcribed and are available at the website callec genealogy in St. Louis and the website is one of the following. Also, Concordia Historical Institute is in St. Louis.

Some St. Louis resources and websites:

St. Louis Query Board:

Please note that St. Louis was part of St. Louis County until 1876, then it became an independent city.
