I am trying to find out what happened to the family of William and Caroline Hermann Schultz once they moved from Manitowoc, Wisconsin to Chicago, Illinois sometime in the late 1800s.
Here is what I know:
I have found William and Caroline in the 1880 Census for Manitowoc, WI with the following information:
William age 34
Caroline age 23
Wilhelmine age 5
Theresia age 2
John age 7 M (born in Nov. 1879)
(Caroline is the daughter of Valentine and Sophia Hermann and is a collateral line in my family research.)
I have old family notes that indicate that William and Caroline had a son named Edward, but have no proof of that at this time.
Between those same family notes and the survivor information given in obituaries of other family members, I have strong evidence that this Schultz family relocated to Chicago sometime in the late 1880's. However, I have been unable to locate them in the city at any point in time.
I am hoping to connect with a descendent of William and Caroline to help me fill in some gaps. (And, in turn, would be happy to provide information on Caroline's Hermann relatives to anyone interested.)
