Carl Frederick Schultz, From Germany To Wisconsin
Posted by: Kim Schultz (ID *****6796) Date: January 21, 2011 at 21:31:27

I've been trying to trace this guy's steps for a very long time. I have received more info in the last few days that might help a little more in my search for German relatives.

Carl Frederick Schultz was born July 31st, 1831 at Teschendorf, Kreis Dr Amburg, Germany and came to America in 1870 on a ship named Laura with his wife Johanna and children. Settled in Sauk County, Wisconsin. Lived in the vicinities of Reedsburg and La Valle. Johanna's maiden name is Zamzow. Carl had 3 brothers and one sister who probably remained in Germany. Their names were John, Ludwig, William and Johanna (married name of Redke). Carl and Johanna's children were Julius August Schultz (my Great Grandpa), Ludwig, and a girl named August (married name Meyer). When he came here from Germany there probably was just Julius and Ludwig at the time. Carl Frederick Schultz died on July 1st, 1911 and his wife Johanna died about 12 years before him. Est. 1899.

My Great Grandpa, Julius August Schultz married Lena D. Brammert here in Sauk County, Wisconsin and had children. Names being Alvina (married name of Hyzen, Esther (married name Miller), Emil, Edna (married name be Noissen, Harold William(My Grandpa), and Arnold.

I know information on most of these people that were born here or on Julius August Schultz who settled here when he was 3 years of age (or 4). But I am looking for more information as to clues for Carl Frederick Schultz and his wife Johanna as far as their lives in Germany so that maybe I can find his parents as well and the search will continue for the Schultz family.

I have written to some places in Germany once with no luck on Carl and Johanna because I knew very little information about them at the time and you had to go from parish to parish to try to find them. I have more information now but still not as much as I'd like to try these places in Germany.
