Jacob Andreas Schult was born in 1764/65, son of Andreas Schult and Marie Rahn (parents from marriage record, his birth record was not found at Glewitz). He married 30 Mar 1796 at Medrow, Anna Catharina Knuth, dau of Christian Knuth and Anna Barbara Engelbrecht. Jacob Andreas died 12 Apr 1841, aged 76, and Anna Catharina on 27 Dec 1841, aged 71, both at Medrow. Their children were Johann Jacob Schult, b. 25 Oct 1796; Johann Andreas Schult, b. 27 May 1799; and Christian Franz Theodor Schult, b. 6 Oct 1800, all at Medrow.
Johann Jacob Schult died 30 Aug 1887 at Dunkirk, Chautauqua County, NY. He married first, 2 Nov 1823 at Medrow, Maria Elisabeth Waschow (1802-1840), dau of Johann Jacob Waschow (sometimes as Wascher, 1758-1808) and Maria Elisabeth Schult (no dates or possible relationship found), dau of Johann Schult, a farmer at Medrow.
Children of Johann Jacob and Maria Elisabeth were Maria Sophia Jochime Schult (1824-1890), Johanna Friederica Christiana Schult [1826-1885, m. 26 Oct 1848, Jochen Christian Friedrich Peters, 1821-1897], Friedrich Christian Theodor Schult (1829-1842), Friedrich Jacob Theodor Schult (1831-1838), Franziska Maria Catharina Schult [1835- ????, m. 26 Dec 1859, Friedrich Christian Theodor Must], Friederica Louise Sophia Schult [1838-1903, m. 13 Jun 1859, Johann Christian Friedrich August Rahn, 1834-1892], and Johanna Sophia Christiana Schult (11 Feb -12 Feb 1840; note mother died in childbirth.)
Johann Jacob Schult m. second, 26 Oct 1840 at Medrow, Hanna Maria Friederica (Plath) Schoknecht, dau of Joachim Heinrich Plath and Maria Dorothea Hornebel. They had one dau, Hanna Christina Maria Schult, b. 18 Jul 1841 at Medrow.
In 1862, Johann Jacob [as Joh., age 61] came to the U.S. with daus Maria and Friederica Peters - but neither Hanna. Schult on the departure record in Germany became Schultz on the arrival record in New York. Johann and Maria were living with Louise Rahn by the 1870 Dunkirk, NY census, and the Peters family was nearby.
Other possible relatives who also left Hamburg on the Helene on 1 Oct 1862 include Joach. Shult [age 26 and listed as Johannís son in cemetery and other NY records, but not found in archive records as such] and Dorothea [age 26, emigration] or Maria [age 24, immigration] Wichmann, possibly a niece/cousin? And in the departure record, things get totally confusing with Maria Schult, 62, his [i.e., Joach.] mother.
