Thanks for the reply! Let's see. Victor, Caroline's father, had a brother Joseph Schwaller who married an Elizabeth Weber of Bann, Germany. I am researching an Adam Epp, born in Bann Germany, whose mother was Marianne Weber. Elizabeth Weber Schwaller and Adam Epp were baptized within months of each other in 1834 in the Roman Catholic Church in Bann, Germany.
Elizabeth Schwaller states (in Adam Epp's C. War pension records) how she knew Adam Epp all her life. (I presume, for now, he was her 1st cousin). Elizabeth Schwaller delivered two of Dora Epp's children. They both lived in Gutenberg, IA and Carroll Co. IA.
In 1870, I found Adam Epp living in Wisconsin w/Victor Schwaller -- loved the pix on the web! So this would have been his first cousin's in-laws. Caroline would have just been 6.
I'd be most interested in how the Schwaller family came to the US. How they came to IA, etc. This may help me understand how an 18-year old Adam Epp ended up in IA. (Since I did not immediately find any of his siblings in the US).
I also understand there is a Schwaller family reunion in IA every year or two.
Happy to share info. Prefer to e-mail directly w/details. So your Schwallers and these Epps are some kind of distant (4th-ish) cousins
