I received a family tree from someone that traces the St. Cloud, MN family back to Andrew Schwegel and Mary A. Roth born around 1870. My theory is that Andrew may have been the son of Anton Schwegel born 10 Nov 1849 in Germany. Anton's parents were Daniel Schwegel II and Katherine Geis who were from Schrollbach, Germany. Daniel II and Katherine were married in a Civil Ceremony, Hauptstuhl, Pfalz, Bayern on 14 April 1847. They were married the following day (15 Apr 1847) in the Roman Catholic church - Roemisch-Katholische, Bruchmuehlbach, Pfalz, Bayern, according to the Mormon records. This is because the Catholic ceremony wasn't recognized as the legal marriage.
Of their children; Daniel Schwegel III moved to Cincinatti, Ohio (some of Daniel's descendents settled in California); Jacob Schwegel's descendents settled around Chicago, Illinois, I don't know if the other children stayed in Germany or came to the States.
This connection is simply a suspicion and would need to be backed up with some records, but it may give you a place to start looking.
